<Callout type="warn" title="Blocked">
  Tavus is blocked: there is no viable JS path for it today.

  **Why.** Tavus avatars join a Daily room, so they need the Daily transport, which has no server-side JS path (see Daily).

  **What would unblock it.** Unblocked when Daily gets a server-side JS transport. The REST client for Tavus is portable on its own.

## What it is [#what-it-is]

Tavus' realtime video avatars.

Upstream, it's these classes: `TavusVideoService`, `TavusTransport`, in
[`services/tavus/video.py`](https://github.com/pipecat-ai/pipecat/blob/main/src/pipecat/services/tavus/video.py) and [`transports/tavus/transport.py`](https://github.com/pipecat-ai/pipecat/blob/main/src/pipecat/transports/tavus/transport.py).

Its pipedog package will be `@pipedog/tavus`.

## Get it ported [#get-it-ported]

* [Search the issues](https://github.com/polvallverdu/pipedog/issues?q=is%3Aissue+Tavus) for a request, and upvote it with a reaction.
* If there's none, [open a port request](https://github.com/polvallverdu/pipedog/issues/new?template=feature_request.yml\&title=Port+Tavus+%28TavusVideoService%2C+TavusTransport%29\&kind=Port+an+upstream+module\&upstream=src%2Fpipecat%2Fservices%2Ftavus%2Fvideo.py%2C+src%2Fpipecat%2Ftransports%2Ftavus%2Ftransport.py).
* Or port it yourself: the [contributing guide](https://polvallverdu.github.io/pipedog/docs/contributing.md) explains how modules are ported,
  test by test. The [porting status](https://polvallverdu.github.io/pipedog/docs/contributing/status.md) lists what's done.

Until then, see what is ported in [Video avatars](https://polvallverdu.github.io/pipedog/docs/services/video.md).
